Typography is really important when it comes to your brand and website design. Typography communicates the style and feel that you brand encompasses. So here are some tips to use if you are either creating your own brand or your own web design.
Your fonts should communicated the exact style that you want your brand to have. Do you want your brand to appear bold, feminine, elegant, calming, fun, quirky, masculine, sporty? That is what you need to decide and then find fonts exude that same feeling.
2. How Many Fonts Types to Use
When creating your logo, stick to 1-2 font types otherwise it will look unprofessional and overwhelming. For your website you should stick to three different font types. This keeps your site looking consistent, clear and professional. One of the three fonts should be a font that stands out that you can either use for either quotes or to show emphasis or importance. For example, cursive, handwritten, or bold or thinline.
3. Pairing Your Fonts
When creating your logo make sure that the two fonts you use are different styles. For example, a serif and san serif, a serif and cursive, handwritten and san serif, etc. This makes your logo look more appealing and professional.
4. Where to Find Your Fonts
My favorite sites for free fonts are “google fonts” and “dafont.com” and my favorite site for more advanced and unique fonts is creativemarket.com.
